Iquitos II

There is a special place in my heart for Iquitos. This is one of the reasons we returned. The Amazon is one of the places in the world where just by being there, your battery is recharged and soul & body are cleansed.

One of the other reasons for our return was the Pizarro family. All together- we lived with these people for just over a month. Aside from bringing us into their home and lives as friends and as visiting tourists; they truly made us part of the family.

We also spent some time with our shaman in the jungle. These are some of the moments that have been painted in my mind so vividly that I will never forget. To truly connect oneself to the universe sounds crazy to some- but it is real. Finding such deep meaning in the energy between the spiritual and the natural world is a powerful feeling and I'm blessed just to have known this understanding for even a moment. It relates to everything in life and is one of the greatest lessons I have learned which will always travel with me.

Also included in this post are some photos of paintings inspired by ayahuasca. My favorite artist in this set happens to be the cousin of the family we stayed with. Tomas Pizarro is a very talented painter and a visionary in life. I hope to introduce his artwork and ideas to North America one day.
