Just getting to Marrakesh was a nightmare. Our plane broke twice and was delayed for two days. we spent two days shuttling back and forth between the Barcelona airport and 5 star hotels on the airport. Aside from being very sick it was an experience that tried our patience and temper. When we finally arrived the entire plain celebrated and applauded landing.
After spending Several hours in an airport lobby, a certain comradery is formed between passengers being screwed by a major airline. After clearing customs and baggage we asked some of our new friends if they wanted to split a cab to the Medina with us. We asked if they knew of any cheap places to stay because we don't speak either french or Arabic. In the taxi our new friend Elsa told us she knew of a place. It ended up that she owned a riad right in the Medina and she offered us a room free of cost. When we arrived our jaws dropped... Her place was like a palace. It typically costs 120euro to stay there for just one night. We stayed for three days and nights enjoying being spoiled with our new friends Petros from Greece, and David from Mallorca, Spain. We ate, drank, swam, and partied the time away.
