So we found ourselves back on a river boat in the Amazon. A crazy adventure in itself... at this stage we had become veterans of these long voyages through days and nights of passage. You get used to the little things like bugs falling into your hammock and waking you up in the middle of the night. Long nights of people laughing and drinking beer in hammocks, endless people watching, new-comers not paying attention and getting robbed its all part of the ride.
Once we arrived we were greeted by a huge family and a dog named Bob Marley who all live in the same house. We instantly felt at home and spent two days living in the jungle as family members.
The first day we went on a walk to the quebradas, which are small rivers and jungle mangroves. Luckily i didn't bring my camera because what we were in store for we would never forget. We thought we were just going on a walk to have a swim in a river - which we did. However, the walk back consisted of hilarious falls into mud banks and a short cut through what can best be described as a walk of death. We made our way back through a muddy mangrove with anacondas, piranhas, eels, and baby crocks basically running and falling in ankle to knee deep muck. It was hilarious because everyone kept falling but there was also an urgent sense of get me the f*ck out of here. But when your are made part of the family, you eat what they eat, you do what they do, and you live how they live- that's just how they live. They rest of the time was spent relaxing, eating, socializing, and playing music, with the family before we had to return on the lancha.
