Kumasi- Ashanti Kingdom

We've been adopted once again, this time by Texans in Africa! Truly Some of the coolest, nicest, most down to earth people we have met. We met on a plane in Nigeria, exchanged some nice words, and they told us to give them a call if we ever made it to Kumasi. Little did we know these people would soon raise the bar for generosity, hospitality, and friendship.

These two are quite an inspiration. They moved to Ghana a few years back and have been working in a small village in the north where they educate and work with the community.

We spent our time in Kumasi (their second home) exploring the area, going to markets, going to a volcanic crater where their friends operate a village hospital, and relaxing at their house. - Okay- Now the good part: They had HOT water showers, Internet, a personal cook/goddess Miriam, and a healthy DVD collection. After camping in the sand and eating over a campfire for enough time you start to miss life's little luxuries. They made us every dish we had been craving, and gave us back simple comforts of the western world for 4 days.

But above all we formed a great friendship with them and were inspired by their love for each other and this world. So much in fact that we went back to visit them again. Thanks Again Lloyd and Jan- we miss you and hope to see you again soon.
