Toubab Dialao - SENEGAL

Bus rides are hectic in Senegal. A prime example of this could be our ride to toubab dialao, a small fishing village south of Dakar. Overturned busses and eternal gridlock traffic-jams in sweltering heat are only some of the fun things that happened before we were dropped off on the side of the road about 40 minutes from our intended destination. Anyways... we arrived to our hotel which was a cultural dance and drumming center. Crazy brick buildings overlooking the sea with an almost all rasta staff.

When we arrived we intended to spend some serious time relaxing on the beach and enjoying some drumming and dancing. The thing is in Senegal, the people are so nice, that you cant go buy a water without being invited/abducted into peoples homes for tea, food, or a nice smoke. So every attempt at relaxation resulted in us making new friends and going on some adventure. Not that it was bad, just not the intended mission. Some of the friends we met became our 24hour campanions/family. From the first night we bonded with a group of three guys who are in a hip-hop group. We spent hours talking, making music, going to nice places and blessin up.

We experienced the dance and drumming, spent some time on the beach, but to wrap Senegal up in a nutshell- it was all about the people and music. Some of the nicest people i've ever met, a taste of the roots of african music, and fun making new music.
