Koh phangan
Koh Phangan- home of the famous Full Moon Party. We planned on spending about 4 or 5 days here but that turned into 2 weeks after having some of the best times we have had on the entire trip.
We escaped the most touristy part of the island and ventured to the far side of the island which is quite hard to get to (but well worth it). We rented a small bungalow on the beach, a 150cc motor bike, and started our island life retreat. What made koh phangan so great for us was the locals and friends we met. When we wern't exploring the island or swimming at waterfalls and the beach, we were at our friends places seeing what kind of inspiration and trouble we could get our selves into. One of our friends Joey who is an artist owns a property with bungalows, waterfall, and a bar- It is the kind of place you never want to leave. I think he should be the supreme ruler of the world, or at least offer some advise to a planet with it's priorities completely out of whack. He's got it pretty figured out. Aside from that our other adventure worth noting was the full moon party. Full moon = madness, it is a rave on a beach with thousands of people and every kind of debauchery you can think of. We had most of our fun watching people making asses of them selves. We even had the oppertunity to do the same ourselves ( a little). The next morning when the sun came up we made our way back to the other side of the island on a mountain dirt road that is border line motocross with a few war scars for memories (aka the koh phangan tatoo). We also spent thanksgiving there and treated ourselves to some massages and a beautifull dinner. I tried to teach dev to drive the motor bike which ended up not being the best idea, as she almost drove us into a well. I think we will start on an easier bike next time.
